I’m Dale Lawrence. Some pieces in a Panhandle home you don’t get a second shot at: a console piano in a downtown Martinsburg parlor, a loaded gun safe bolted into a foothill basement, an antique armoire that’s been in the family for generations. Those land with my son Travis, who heads up the specialty crew and has handled this exact kind of piece in Panhandle homes for years.
From a historic downtown Martinsburg Victorian to a farmhouse out on a gravel lane, Lawrence & Family Movers writes the whole job as one flat number up front and holds it — no surprise lines once the truck is loaded.
Heavy and irreplaceable, planned not improvised
We bring piano boards, skid plates, ratchet straps and stair-climbing dollies, and we plan the route before anyone lifts: the long gravel lane, the tight Victorian doorway, the half-turn at the bottom of the basement stairs. The hardest carries are the ones we walk first. Getting an upright down steep original stairs in town, or a heavy safe up a country basement turn, is a planned sequence, not brute force.
Not just pianos
Uprights, consoles and baby grands are the regulars, but Travis’s crew also moves loaded gun safes, home-gym racks, antique armoires, marble-top tables, oversized mirrors and crated art. Anything heavy, awkward or one-of-a-kind goes on the specialty board.
What a specialty move runs
